Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Taken from a locked garage between 6pm 8/23/15 and 9am 8/24/15.

My bike was locked in front of Loyola's Damen Student Center on the North side in the bike racks (Between Damen Building and Mertz Dormitory). I left my bike locked there for about 10 hours, but the last time I checked it was still there (6:30pm). I left it and came back to it at 8:50pm and the bike was stripped of the Crank, Fork, handlebars, and basket. The bike itself was still there (frame wheelset and seat), but the thieves used specialized bike tools to take apart the parts off my bike. I have left my bike in this general area for the past 2 weeks and I have a suspicion someone in the neighborhood has been scoping out my bike. I reported to my campus's PD and gave them a description of the situation. There are some cameras in the area but there I do not know if it could have caught them in the action. They had told me that the kids in the neighborhood have done this type of thefts to other Loyola students. The crank that they stole is an SRAM S100 1.1 Courier 48t 170mm with a black plastic pedal, the fork is an i803 Carbon Leader Fork with stem, the handle bar they stole was a Crew Co Drop bar cut into a bullhorn with red/black camo handlebar tape, and the front basket was a black Wald pizza delivery. The thieves literally only took these parts and left behind the screws and bolts behind.

Bike was parked with bike trailer at Maggie Daley Park at the bike racks at the intersection of S Columbus Drive and Monroe St. We left the locked bike for no more than 30 minutes to find that it had been stolen, along with the trailer.

Back locked to rack on vehicle. Entire rack and attached bike cut and stolen.

Bike was locked up in the back area of apartment building. The thief must have gotten in somehow since the back area is gated and locked. Bike was left unattended for 2 nights, 2 days. *picture is of a bike that looks similar

Left my bike locked to this street sign at around 5pm and meant to go back outside to bring it around to the inside of my building (I had been carrying a lot), forgot about it and went to use it in the morning when I remembered and it was gone.

Bike stolen from yard in Bridgeport

Front tire was attached to street sign with a U-Lock, and a cable was looped around the back tire and attached to the U-Lock. Thief cut the cable and took the entire bike minus the front tire and U-Lock.

Thief broke the boards that the bike was locked to and stole bike along with helmet and lock. Thief also left their shitty blue bike in my yard.

When no one was in the apartment and building was dark, someone came up to the porch, cut through the railing on which the bike was locked, used the lock to pry back the (then-cut) railing, and took the bicycle. Picture of the railing is below.

The bike was chained to front gate in front of my building. I went down to use the bike and I found it was gone along with the lock.

Left bike on partially enclosed back porch. Thief entered through the back gate or from an apartment above mine, stole the bike, and left. Police report filed shortly thereafter.

Found bike missing 8/22/2015. Have video of thief.

Left my bike locked to the bike rack in front of my building, with a heavy duty lock- through both wheels and frame. Haven't ridden in about a week and when I went to go grab it this morning, everything was gone.

The bike was fully locked to a bike rack at the plaza area at Moody Bible Institute.

Bikes were inside my Honda Element. Somehow they managed to open one of the doors and took both bikes.

Bike was locked to a metal pipe inside school garage. There was a U-Lock through the front wheel but not connected to the frame, and a combination chain lock through the rear wheel and the frame. I went out to the garage and found the chain lock cut and the front wheel still connected to the pipe with the U-Lock.

I locked my bike in front of work in the Loop. When I left work at 4:00 it was gone.
