Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

Went inside Macys around 10:30am and locked bike to bike rack in front of Macy's. When I came out around 4pm the bike was gone as well as the U-lock.

Someone entered my house and took my bike. It is believed that when the door was closed it did not fully latch.

Bike was stolen out of a garage, door lock was bypassed, other tools were stolen as well

Today, Saturday 2/5/22, my bike was stolen from our locked storage locker in our underground garage. This happened between 4:20pm and 8:20pm. The storage unit was locked with a Masterlock outdoor padlock. The bike itself was attached to the chain link side of our storage locker with bungee cords. We had just taken something else out of the locker at 4:15pm and locked it immediately afterwards. It appears that someone gained access to the locked garage, cut the lock on our storage unit (the lock was missing when we returned), and stole the bike. The storage is in the lower part of the garage in the northeast corner. There are dozens of bikes throughout the garage (some locked, some unlocked) that appear to be untouched. It is possible someone was watching us while we were at the locker and knew they could break in after we left. The bike was a $700 men's matte black Trek FX 2 Disc, size XXL. Attached is a picture.

Bike was in apartment building's bike room, which can only be accessed via building key fob. Bike was locked to itself through rear wheel, as racks in the bike room cannot be locked to. Bike was last used on 12/30/21; Due to weather I hadn't checked on the bike until today (2/5/22), so it must have been taken in the ~1 month since.

Saw someone walking in the alley when I was leaving my garage--the bike was visible and not locked up (it was a recent raffle prize from my wife's work and we'd not bought a lock yet). Seems like the person saw the bike, entered the garage through the side door, and rode it out though the main garage door.

While other tenants in the building were moving, the garage door was left wide open and the bike was removed from being mounted on the side wall of the garage. This happened Sunday night in the Albany Park neighborhood. [Admin note-- on June 16 2022 victim contacted us to report the bike had been recovered but did not respond to request for details of recovery]

Bike is used to get back/forth from school. Bike is locked in same place everyday. Uncertain of burglary time - found stolen when done with school.

Bike was stolen from an apartment storage room.

I believe my bike was stolen from a three car shared garage.

Bike was locked in apartment external storage area with bike rack. I returned in the evening and found my bike missing.

The garage of our building was broken into and several bicycles were stolen from the bike rack.

Totally unsure when this happened, it was locked in storage for a while, so I just put a random day/time

Not sure when exactly it was stolen. We do not use the garage often but our neighbors drive in and out with their cars frequently. There was a month in between the last time we saw the bike and when we realized it was stolen. Our neighbor has left the garage door open when driving out and that was likely what happened given that no door or locks were broken.

Bike missing from locked garage. Was last seen Thurs 12/30/21 @ 3:30pm. Noticed missing on 1/1/22 @ 1pm. Other valuables in garage were not taken. No signs of forced entry. Bike was suspended from ceiling over our car. Noticed the suspension cable was unraveled and bike was missing. Don't see any additional damage to the car below.

The bicycle, a white Blix Vika+ flex foldable electric bicycle with tan leather saddle and front basket, was stolen from a locked garage. The garage is shared with one other household living in the building, Unit 3F. The neighbour from Unit 3F saw the bicycle missing with the garage doors left unlocked and wide open at 7am on December 6th, 7th, or 8th. I discovered the theft weeks later. The neighbouring building, 3221 W Evergreen Ave, has security cameras pointing at the alley in range of the garage.

Bike was locked up on Division street in front of Aldi and near my dentist. I locked the bike through the frame and front wheel to a bike rack. When I came out of the dentist the bike was missing, along with the lock.

I went down to apartment basement on Friday afternoon 12/17. My bike—which had been leaning against 2 other bikes behind the door on the left of the room—was gone. The helmet (which had been dangling from the handlebars) was sat on a chair. There were a total of 4 other bikes in this room. All of them were still there. Unfortunately, I had not locked the bike up (got too comfortable:,( The lock was also coiled around the handlebars. I’m not sure if I left the correct combo in or if I scrambled it. It appears that the individual also took the lock.

garage door had been malfunctioning, and it did not close properly and was left open. when we noticed hours later, my bicycle was missing. we found it listed on facebook marketplace for sale for 160, but it was then sold to a lady named giselle in north lawndale, who we just missed out on buying it from, but was then sold a bike reseller
