Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I rode my bike to the Addison brown line stop this morning before work. It was locked to the western-most bike rack on the south side of the street. I came back after work and my bike and lock were both missing. There were still many other bikes locked to the bike racks.

We got home to a garage we share with our neighbor (no it wasn't our neighbor who stole it all), and my bicycle (along with our Burley baby trailer, 2 helmets - one a little white Lazer baby helmet with flowers on it, and the other a grey adult's Lazer helmet - the lock and cable, and one bike tire pump) was gone - piece of steel in the wall (drilled into the brick wall of the garage) to which all was U-locked was cut, seemingly with hardcore bolt cutters or something. The picture below is of me on my bike from a few years ago, right after I swapped my drop bars for riser bars, and they don't have the grips on them yet (terrible picture, I know, but it gives one a rough idea).

I left the bike locked at 7am, came out at 4pm and it was gone.

Somebody either guessed the combination or cut the lock. Bike was only locked up for an hour.

The bike was locked up outside Steppenwolf Theatre Co on N Halsted Ave for two hours during which the bike and lock were stolen.

It seems likely that the bike was taken during the night, as the street it was on is well-trafficked during the day. No pieces of the bike or lock were left behind, but there was a washer, a nut, and a thick screw on the ground. Maybe the bottom of the street sign was unscrewed from the ground and lifted?

My bike was locked to a rack at the entrance of Navy Pier around 3:30pm. When I returned around 6:30 the Bike and the lock were gone.

Was up until 3 and didn't hear anyone come up on deck at that time so must have been between 4 and 8 am

Bike was parked in garage. Went on vacation for a week from June 21 - June 29 and noticed bike was gone when I returned. Garage is shared with 5 other people and they sometimes leave door open. It is likely that door was open and someone walking the back alley went into garage and took bike.

I had been keeping in my friend's garage for a week. They went on vacation, came back and discovered my bike was missing from their garage.

Bike was locked up under the stairs at 7am this morning, came home at 5 and it was gone.

I locked my bike up outside of the Urban Cargo thrift shop. I pulled the lock through my bike and wheel and went inside. I left the thrift shop and drove with a friend a few blocks away for about 10 minutes and saw my bike locked up from down the block. As we pulled up, she pulled across the street and I saw a man standing near the bike rack wearing a white shirt. I didn't really get the best look at him because I was in the car and didn't really think anything of him mulling around. By the time I got out of the car and crossed the street, my bike frame and back wheel were both gone and only my front wheel and lock were left. I do have a quick release wheel and I was positive I locked it correctly.

Workers in the backyard left the garage door open momentarily and a scavanger in a burgundy truck apparently took the bike from inside the garage.

The bicycle was professionally mounted to the ceiling of my (2) two car garage. The garage door was pryed-open and the bicycle was stolen from an enclosed private garage, with alley access between Superior Street & Chicago Avenue. Bike was stolen from The Bike Lane. Some one broke through the back door.
