Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I went to a Fado's Irish Pub to participate in the running club that meets Thursdays 6:00 PM. I locked my bike across the street, in front of the Maggiano's on Grand Ave. at the corner of Clark St. I left for a run at 6:15 PM and after returning to the same location (outside Fado's on Grand Ave) I waited for the group to return. We went inside for food and drinks around 6:55 - 7:00 PM. I checked on the bike before going inside. When I came back out around 8:00 - 8:15 PM the bike was missing. There was no lock or sign of how the theft went down. I had a weak combo cable lock through the front wheel, frame, and metal upside down "u" shaped bike lock. The bike was curbside. I think that someone cut the lock and rode off or threw it into a pickup. The area was high traffic the whole time I was away from the bike.

Bike was gone. Helmet was present with u-lock thrown alongside the bike on the grass. The lock was cut (not sawed) in two locations, and the bike was missing from the scene.

Men's (black Townie 24) and Ladies bikes were combo cable locked together on first floor metal porch at rear of building (security camera/enclosed fenced parking area--gate was open) off alley running parallel to Redline south of Bryn Mawr stop @ Catalpa. Bikes were stolen between 9 pm Tues. August 13 and 5 pm August 14 2014.

The bike was in the basement. I live in a brownstone and you need keys to get in the yard both gates are locked the doors are all locked to the house. We had a break in. The people broke in through the basement window and stole my bike

At the Lincoln Park Zoo where the bike was locked to the rack just north of the back/east Zoo entrance on Cannon. Locked with 3-4 other bikes and cable was cut leaving the other bikes behind but stealing mine.

Bike was parked outside off of Division street while I was watching the USA game at a pub. Came out at the conclusion of the game and the bike was gone. Whats most frustrating is that there were lots of people sitting outside eating in broad daylight.

I locked my bike in front of the 555 west madison building and when I returned at approximately 9:30 PM CDT,the cable was cut and kept in place of the bike.

The cable lock was cut in broad daylight in the middle of the day, in front of Open Books on West Institute St. The helmet was locked with it, and was left behind by the thieves.

Bike was locked to bike rack in front side of navy pier, we were inside for twenty minutes, came back Bike was gone. We're visiting Chicago from Pennsylvania and wanted to see Chicago from bike. The bike was my girlfriends anniversary gift to me. It was expensive but has much greater sentimental value.

bike was parked at the Jefferson Park train station in the bike parking area for 2 days, came to get bike, was not there neither was lock

The perpetrator left their bike in our garage.

Locked up at the Morse Red Line bike lot. Not sure if the lock didnt catch or they cut it. But they left my helmet there.

bike was stolen from secluded 2nd story porch. while owner was in house.

My neighbor called to ask if I had left the garage open (I hadn't) around 11:00am. They closed the garage then. When I made it home from work at 5:30pm I found the bike missing.

Locked bike to fence, walked clients dog came back and bike was gone.

Stolen along with Trek 7200 ladies low hybrid from the bike rack in 400 block W. Jackson by Union Station.

my bike, along with my husband's bike, was stolen from the bike rack at Union Station.

I locked up my bike on a metal grate that closes the front of a store right next to the Burlington bar on Fullerton at around 11pm to watch a show. When I came back around 1:30, bike, lock, and cable were all missing. I didn't check to see if the grate was cut (as the metal was pretty flimsy), but it's probable that the cable was cut and everything was taken.

We had two bikes locked up (frame and wheels locked with two U locks and a cable) to the bike racks on Ashland Avenue at the Clybourn Metra station. We left at around 6:45pm and returned at around 11:45pm and both bike seats were stolen. The bike seats were not locked (they were not quick release, either). A light was also stolen.

Thief entered into garage door that may have been left unlocked.
