Chicago Stolen Bike Registry

I locked the bike to a city-provided bike lock stand around 10:30am outside of Century Shopping Centre at 2828 N Clark St. in Chicago, IL. I confirmed the bike lock was locked and scrambled, and then armed an alarm system that would go off if the bike was tampered with. Approximately 1hr30m later, I returned to the location and the lock was sawed (presumably) in half and the bike was gone.

The bike was stored on the first-floor apartment's inside porch, requiring a building key to enter. Two bikes were stolen off the porch between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on 7/25/24. The other bike was a Specialized Sirrus Elite with a dirty white colored frame. There was no sign of forced entry, so it was stolen by someone with a key or a door that was not properly latched. Unknown burglar and no other items were taken beside the bikes. The stolen bikes were last seen at 7 a.m.

Parked bike in my building’s garage with back wheel locked. The next morning the lock had been cut (and left) and bike was gone.

Bike was stolen from a private residential garage.

There was no sign of forced entry, so it was stolen by someone with a key or a door that was not properly latched. Unknown burglar and no other items were taken beside the bikes. The stolen bikes were last seen at 7 a.m.

I don't know what happened. I last used the bike on 7/9 and found it missing on 7/25.

Bike was locked using a cable and U-lock, cable was cut and left at the scene.

Happened between midnight on July 13th and noon on July 14th

Bike was stolen from the walkway on the side of our apartment. The walkway is off the street and protected by two locked gates, one in the front and one in the back. I forgot to lock my bike with my u-lock, but it was covered with a weather tarp. My wife's bike was right next to it and wasn't stolen. The attached picture is not my personal bike, but a picture I found online. I don't have any pictures of my bike.

Bike was stolen from Ravenswood METRA station. [On 8/25/2025 we received an email from someone who found the bike. We put them in touch with the victim. We now have received separate emails from both the victim and finder, that the victim is gifting the recovered bike to the finder, who originally contacted us. We consider this case closed, in a less than ideal outcome.]

Bike was locked to a stop sign. Thieves cut out the stop sign from the ground and took the bike, leaving the stop sign thrown on the ground.

Bike room door was bent in half and lock was gone missing from the door. Bicycle was taken. Bike room is located in a locked garage where only residents have access.

Bike locked to a rack under the Metra Platform at Leland and Ravenswood. Took the thieves at least 5 attempts to cut through the chain.
